About

My art is a band-aid that doesn't hurt to rip off. Dreamy, colorful, a conceptual fantasy world, the marriage of history and identity. By intertwining my art with personal experiences as a queer, gender non-conforming individual, I explore, disencumber, and celebrate the hardships and tension felt by many who have felt excluded and oppressed. Most importantly, my work offers insightful and inclusive alternatives for a more vibrant future

Originally from a small town in Upstate New York, Massimo Avanzato (he/him/they/them) is currently located in New York City attending the Fashion Institute of Technology to receive a BFA in Photography. His body of work ranges from video and photographic content to sculptural pieces. Massimo’s visual art has been both exhibited and published. His piece “Paradise Lost,” a representation of the bibilical story of Adam and Eve reinterpreted through a queer lens, was shown at the Sonder III Exhibition in 2019. Additionally, his photographic work was published in Noisy Rain, an online gay arts magazine
